The context

Breast and cervical cancers are among the leading causes of death in women, even though early screening saves lives. Many women, particularly in working-class neighbourhoods and rural areas, still lack information and access to screening.

Our objectives

  • Inform women and raise their awareness about the prevention of women's cancers.
  • Encourage and facilitate early screening.
  • Reach out to the populations furthest from information.

What we have achieved

Every October, the NZILA Leaders teams, dressed in pink, carry out grassroots awareness activities among women and families — reaching into working-class neighbourhoods and rural areas, as close as possible to those who have the least access to information and screening.
